Diving in Pulau Weh

Diving in Pulau Weh – World-Class Adventure Awaits

Pulau Weh offers truly world-class diving. Located at the northwestern tip of Indonesia, the island sits where the Andaman Sea meets the Indian Ocean—bringing together nutrient-rich currents and a spectacular diversity of marine life.

With deep walls, vibrant coral reefs, and often strong currents, the diving here can be both thrilling and rewarding. Visibility often exceeds 25 metres, and water temperatures remain a warm 28–29°C year-round. You’ll encounter everything from colourful reef fish and stunning macro life to pelagics, sharks, rays, and even the occasional manta or mola mola.

Marine Life Highlights

Pulau Weh is bursting with marine biodiversity. Common sightings at almost all dive sites include lionfish, moray eels, nudibranchs, octopus, boxfish, trevally, unicornfish, surgeonfish, groupers, triggerfish, parrotfish, wrasse, crustaceans, and a wide range of sea stars and sea cucumbers.

Deep dive sites are carpeted with large gorgonian sea fans, while both deep and shallow areas are rich in colourful hard corals and gently swaying soft corals.

Many sites have resident reef sharks and turtles. Manta rays, eagle rays, and squadrons of devil rays appear seasonally, while mola-mola (sunfish) make an annual appearance. Macro lovers can spot unusual critters like frogfish, mimic octopus, seahorses, rhinopias, and more exotic nudibranchs.

We conduct two boat dives daily, returning to Iboih between dives for a relaxing surface interval. Special requests can be made for a three-dive schedule, and night dives are available on request (excluding Thursday nights), with a minimum of two divers. We also have various sized boats to accommodate individuals, small groups, or larger dive teams..
